Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions that are frequently asked in relation to SSEND PL events.

Can I request SSEND to come and deliver professional learning in my school?

Yes. You can follow the request for assistance pathway to request SSEND to deliver PL in your school.

However, you can also take advantage of the scheduled PL events offered by SSEND in a variety of formats throughout the school year.

How do the delivery modes of SSEND PL work?

SSEND delivery modes include:

  • In-person presentations and workshops: The audience attends a venue hosted by SSEND to participate in a live presentation, with interaction between presenter and audience.
  • Web conferencing: With the assistance of a producer, a facilitator delivers a presentation through a web-conference to individuals or groups online. A co-presenter (with content knowledge) assists in facilitating interaction between presenter and audience.
  • Blended Model of in-person and remote delivery: An in-person audience attends a venue while remote participants are involved through a produced web-broadcast. A producer facilitates interaction between the in-person audience, remote participants and the presenter, balancing the needs of each audience for maximum engagement with learning.
  • Self-paced: A participant goes online to independently access a self-paced module or session at their convenience.
  • Live stream: An in-person event is broadcast to other participants who watch a live stream online. The online audience has minimal interaction with the presenter or live audience.

How do I access a live PL online on the day of the event?

You will find a link to the event web conference in the information hub. Find the information hub by going to link below the specific event date on this page. The event hub is made live in the days leading up to the PL event.

What is an 'event information hub'?

An event information hub is an online collection of content that supports a a PL event. This content includes, documents, videos, links and other items that will assist in the smooth running of the event.

How do I access the event information hub?

Close to the time of a PL event, a link to the event information hub will be published under the relevant date. Click on the link to access all the information relevant to the event, including the web conference link.

How does live streaming differ from web conferencing?

During a web-conference there is a dedicated producer to facilitate interaction with the live presenter and audience.

During a live stream there is only an audio-visual feed of the in-person presentation, without the opportunity for high-level interaction for remote participants with live presenters.

How can I access other modes of SSEND PL delivery, such as independent, self-paced learning or facilitated packages for delivery in schools?

Go to the Online Resources page under Professional Learning in the navigation menu of this site.
